History:
The Comte du Clos du Chêne was a 19th century’s soldier who has contributed to the reputation of the Bordeaux region. During one of his numerous trips to the French vineyards, the Marquis de Melville felt a passion for the neglected domain. In spite of the conditions prevailing in the domain and the vineyard, he decided to embark on a restoration preject and to give a new life to the Saint Julien. In honour of the patriotism and courage emanating from Bordeaux, the Marquis de Melville decided to give the name of Comte du Clos du Chêne to that wine. Today the domain is cultivated over an area of 115 hectares.
