History:
The Château La Robertie, a 15-hectare wine-making domain, is located in the Monbazillac A.O.C. (Controlled Term of Origin).
The new owners moved onto this property in 1999, the origin of which goes back to 1736. The soil and the ages of the vines give this vineyard its richness.
Standards: Monbazillac AOC
Vintage: 2005
Grape Varieties:
90% Semillon
5% Sauvignon
5% Muscadelle
Characteristics:
Monbazillac is manually harvested by successive picking. This concentrates the “crystallized†grape berries in aromas and sugars. This already very concentrated vintage wine, releases a whole palate of aromas, often dominated by crystallized apricot, pineapple and citrus fruits.
This is why, to be successful, this wine depends on rigorous manual harvesting, three pickings between the middle of October and the middle of November. The 2006 and 2007 vintage wines are characterized by a beautiful harvest quality, climatic conditions having encouraged healthy development. This wine is of exceptional quality and has already been awarded gold medals.
Soil:
Located on a very argillaceous hillside and a hard limestone plateau, the quality of the soil here is largely thanks to the presence of swelling clays, with an underground water supply to the vines in the summer. The land of Rouffignac is especially dedicated to Semillon which produces very good results with these clays.
Recommendations of the Sommelier:
A high-quality wine, dominated by fruits, with a beautiful balance between sweet and acidic. Can be served as an aperitif or for those with the patience and wish to keep it, it can be enjoyed just as much as a vintage wine.
