History:
The Marquis de l’Esterel is produced by a cooperative which was started in 1933 by about thirty owners who joined their efforts to produce a very good Pauillac.
Through successive inheritances and the envies that it arouses, the domain has been transformed into a nice vineyard of about sixty hectares and has a yearly production of some 3,500 hectolitres of wine. Small parcels, very often situated in the gardens of the owners, are subjected to meticulous care. An average plantation of 10,000 vines per hectare confirms the old saying that when the vine plants are confined within a small space, production is low and the wines are rich and full of flavor. The cellars for wine making, maturing and commercialization are housed in a 19th century farm compound in the town centre.
